    Frequently Asked Questions

What type of cabling should I install — Cat6 or Cat6a?

Cat6 supports up to 10Gbps at 55 meters and is ideal for most office environments. Cat6a supports 10Gbps at 100 meters and is recommended for data centers, hospitals, and buildings planning for future bandwidth growth. We assess your needs and recommend the most cost-effective option.

How much does structured cabling cost per drop?

A standard Cat6 cable drop ranges from $150-$300 depending on cable pathway complexity, ceiling height, and distance. Volume discounts apply for larger projects. We provide detailed, itemized quotes after an on-site walkthrough.

Can you cable a building that's already occupied?

Absolutely. We specialize in retrofitting existing buildings with minimal disruption. We work after hours when needed, use existing pathways where possible, and leave work areas clean and organized.

Do you install fiber optic cable?

Yes. We install single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cable for backbone connections, long-distance runs, and high-bandwidth applications. All fiber terminations are tested with an OTDR and documented.

What does a certified cable test include?

When requested, we test cable runs with a Fluke DSX-series tester, verifying wire mapping, length, insertion loss, NEXT, and return loss. You receive a printed and digital test report. Fluke-certified testing is available as an add-on service.
