What equipment do I need for a complete AV system?

A complete commercial AV system needs five parts: a display or projector, audio capture and playback, a switching or conferencing processor, a control interface, and the structured cabling behind it. A Zoom or Teams room adds a certified camera, microphones sized to the room, and a room scheduling display.

    The five building blocks

Skip any one of these and the room underperforms. Audio is the part most often cut and the part users complain about first — people tolerate an average picture and never tolerate bad sound.

    • Display: commercial-grade panel or laser projector sized to viewing distance
    • Audio: ceiling or table microphones, DSP, and amplified speakers
    • Video conferencing: certified camera and codec for Zoom or Microsoft Teams
    • Control: touch panel or simple one-touch join interface
    • Infrastructure: Cat6a/fiber, HDMI or AV-over-IP, rack, power and pathways

    Sizing to the room

A six-person huddle room and a 40-person boardroom are not the same design. Microphone coverage, display size and camera field of view all scale with the room. We design against the actual room dimensions and seating layout rather than a package price list.
